Auto Immune Paleo

AIP stands for Autoimmune Paleo. The "AI" refers to Autoimmune, as there are over 140 conditions that can be diagnosed as autoimmune diseases. These diseases are often difficult to diagnose, and in the early stages, individuals are often dismissed as complainers, which is unjustified since these individuals feel far from optimal.

The "P" stands for Paleo. This diet focuses on the original "hunter and gatherers" -diet. The philosopher Hippocrates once claimed, "All diseases begin in the intestinal system. Therefore, let food be our medicine." AIP thus stands for Auto Immune Paleo diet, which involves taking a fresh and transparent look at the consumption of unprocessed foods, also known as a dietary modification. AIP can help you on your way to improving your health.

AIP phases

AIP can be described as an elimination diet. This diet consists of 5 different phases.
In the first "elimination phase", you avoid foods with anti-nutrients for 30 to 90 days. Nutrition can be so processed that they harm your body more than they support it. During this elimination phase, you rest your gut and immune system. This will reduce your symptoms and allow your immune system to recover.

Four more phases follow the elimination phase. During each stage, foods removed during the first elimination phase are introduced. The elimination diet is meant to be a start-up where you start reintroducing familiar foods step-by-step. This way, your body can gradually recover so that you begin to feel better. Both mentally and physically.

If individuals are experiencing problems related to a specific autoimmune disease, their daily diet likely plays a significant role. Since the 1950s, our eating habits have changed significantly. Our ancestors had a completely different diet compared to what we have today. We have to deal with processed and modified foods in today's society. Just think of the added sugars, salt and the various chemicals in fruits and vegetables.

The best-known AI diseases for many people are Hashimoto's, rheumatoid arthritis, fibromyalgia, celiac disease, Crohn's disease, ulcerative colitis, type I diabetes and lupus. Various symptoms can accompany an AI disease, such as allergies, anxiety, depression, headaches, memory, skin and sleep problems. All these symptoms can belong to "triggering" on food and a possible incipient autoimmune disease.

The AIP diet originated in 2011, and many people have reported a reduction in their symptoms through this diet. AIP Circle represents entering the circle of AIP. This circle is more than just a diet or a protocol for managing autoimmune diseases. It is a holistic lifestyle that aims to optimize the health and well-being of each individual by focusing on nutrition, stress management, lifestyle, and sleep.
